Chiefs at Maynard Masterclass and Festival!

Yesterday’s Chiefs at Maynard Masterclass and Festival was an absolutely smashing success! Around 110 girls hailing from The Maynard, St James School, Exeter Cathedral School, Ivybridge Community College, Torquay Academy, Tiverton High School, Clyst Vale Community College, Robert Blake School and Exmouth Community College had a fabulously fun day learning rugby skills and playing matches, all alongside members of the Chiefs team.

The morning consisted of a carousel of five different skills sessions run by Chiefs players including Clara Nielson, Eilidh Sinclair, Abby Middlebrooke, and Maz McDonald (who only got back from representing Scotland at the Six Nations yesterday!), and Rich Bright from the Community Chiefs. The afternoon saw the girls participate in five matches in a touch rugby festival, before everyone was given a water bottle and certificate to say ‘Well done!’. A ‘most improved’ player from each team was also selected for their efforts during the day, their great attitude, and their work as a role model – these rugby stars received a rugby ball signed by the Chiefs players.

Huge thanks to the Chiefs and everyone who donated their time to make yesterday such an incredible experience, plus our Lower 6th (Year 12) rugby Sports Scholar Alice who set a brilliant example for all!
