Last Friday, Mr Friendship and Mr Wood took 13 enthusiastic Lower 4 and Upper 4 students to County Hall for the regional round of the FIRST LEGO League Robotics Tournament. The competition provided a fantastic opportunity for the girls to put their problem-solving and teamwork skills to the test in a dynamic and challenging environment.
The day was not without its difficulties, and the girls quickly learned the value of resilience as they faced unexpected challenges. However, they adapted brilliantly, demonstrating perseverance and determination. Their hard work paid off, and both teams were recognised for their outstanding contributions to the event.
The Upper 4 team won the prestigious Innovation Project Award for their impressive project on exploring oceans on other planets. Their creative approach and technical ingenuity set them apart, and they even developed a video game as part of their research, which captured the judges’ attention. Meanwhile, the Lower 4 team was awarded the Motivate Award in recognition of their incredibly positive attitude and unwavering support for their teammates and competitors alike. Their enthusiasm and encouragement embodied the true spirit of the First Lego League.
Beyond the awards, the tournament was an invaluable learning experience, reinforcing key skills such as teamwork, critical thinking, and adaptability. The girls represented the school with pride, showcasing their creativity, collaboration, and resilience throughout the day.
Congratulations to all the students who took part—your dedication and determination were truly inspiring!
