Two of our top athletes ran stunning races at the Devon Schools Cross-Country Championships held at Stover School on Saturday 20 January 2018. Amelia Moody (Year 11), cast aside her concerns over her lack of training opportunities due to the recent GCSE mock examinations, to take a very credible third in the Intermediate Girls section. Amelia is an incredible distance runner having gone all the way through to the finals in Norfolk last year where she placed 2nd from the Devon runners and 7th from the entire South West (spanning seven counties).
Equally, Katie Harries (Year 8) put in a sterling performance to finish 8th from 46 runners in the Junior Girls section. Katie, a regular with the Exeter Harriers, is a progressive athlete and with her continued improvement is certainly one to watch in the future.
We wish both Amelia and Katie the very best of luck for the next round at the South West Schools’ Cross-Country Championships on Saturday 3 February 2018.
