After an outstanding effort from all teams over the course of last week, despite not winning the competition nationally, we are delighted to announce that the team who scored most points out of all the Upper 4 (Year 9) Maynardians in the GCHQ’s National Language Competition 2023 is …. Team BRIGHT DELIGHTFUL SCORPION! (AKA Holly, Harriett, Niamh and Lisa)
There was fierce competition all week with teams from more than 500 schools across the UK putting their language skills to the test and battling it out for the top spot on the leaderboard. It was a closely fought race right up to the very end with teams pulling out all the stops to crack those codes and solve those language puzzles! We hope that this inspired language learning by encouraging the students to discover their aptitude for learning languages outside the classroom. The Bright Delightful Scorpions received their prizes and certificates in assembly to celebrate their achievement but we want to congratulate all Upper 4 for their participation and enthusiasm towards the competition.
