Our English enthusiasts were delighted to attend a reading and Q&A session by current Poet Laureate, Simon Armitage, at the Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival last Friday.
As part of the Festival’s spring weekend, our A-Level English Literature students and members of the Book Club enjoyed an afternoon with Simon, who is an award-winning and celebrated poet, playwright, musician and novelist. The girls were treated to poetry readings and illuminating explanations of aspects of the poems; they very much enjoyed his blend of wry humour and thoughtful discussion of poignant subjects.
What a wonderful dose of inspiration to take away, and such a perfect example of all the exciting places that studying English can take them!
