At The Maynard we understand what a daunting task choosing the right school for your daughter can be and we try to make our admissions process as easy as possible.
Depending on place availability, girls are welcome to join us at any stage of their academic career and at any time during the school year. We also offer a number of Scholarships and Fees Assisted Places, including three free places into the Sixth Form.
Entrance Assessment
To ensure that our school will suit your daughter, our application process from Year 3 upwards involves a short written assessment. We understand that, for some girls, this may be their first experience of a formal test like this, so we try to make the experience as relaxed as possible. We hold our entrance assessments in an intimate classroom setting and there will be regular breaks with our chef’s famous cookies and hot chocolate being served!
Our experienced staff look for potential as well as current ability, and we advise that any extra coaching for the assessments is not necessary.
For Sixth Form entry, students are invited to attend an interview with the Headmistress, our Director of Sixth Form and subject teachers.
Our 2019 entrance events take place on:
- 11+ and 13+ Entrance Assessment Morning – Saturday 19 January, 9am – 1pm
- Junior School Entrance Assessment Days – Thursday 24 January (7+/Year 3 entry) & Friday 25 January (8+/Years 4-6 entry)
- Sixth Form Interviews – 4pm – 6pm on Thursday 10 January, Tuesday 15 January and Wednesday 23 January.
If you are unable to attend these group events, you can sit an individual entrance assessment at any time throughout the year.
