Today, our STEM stars in Lower 4 (Year 8) joined students from other local schools in taking on the IET (The Institution of Engineering and Technology) Faraday Challenge – a fantastically fun full-day activity designed to stretch their skills!
Hosted in the PAC, we welcomed guests from West Exe School, Cullompton Community College, Tiverton High School and Exmouth Community College to compete in the hands-on tasks set up and run by IET professionals. Each team of six students had the opportunity to research, design and make a prototype solution to a real-world engineering problems: this involved everything from selecting team roles, budgeting and acquiring materials from a ‘shop’ run by staff, and eventually presenting their finished product to the judges.
Everyone did a truly excellent job and showed brilliant ingenuity with their range of clever creations, all with real-world practical applications. Congratulations to the winning team from West Exe School and very well done to all students for what was a tremendous day of STEM learning all round!
