Pre-Prep Extra-Curricular

Our priority is for our girls to learn to be children, to play outside, to take part in shared activities and experiences, rather than always sitting at a desk. You will see this in our curriculum, which includes time for creativity and expression; we also spend a lot of time outside the classroom, with Pre-Prep pupils taking part in a number of clubs and activities as part of their day and various outings and visits taking place each term. Pre-Prep girls are also enthusiastic participants in fundraising activities throughout the school year. Everyone enjoys the fun of dressing up, performing, making and decorating, taking part in competitions and sponsored events.

Outings and Visits

We organise regular outings and visits for our Pre-Prep pupils. Recent trips have included a wonderful day out to the Exmouth Lifeboat Station, a trip to West Town Farm in Ide, where the girls had the opportunity to see how a working farm operates and a historical tour of Exeter Cathedral. They have also visited the Tiverton Museum and Dart’s Farm.

Sport and Outdoor Learning

Pre-Prep pupils enjoy regular swimming lessons at St Luke’s campus (University of Exeter), and we are lucky enough to have an on-site Forest School that girls enjoy all year round.

We also offer Ballet, Tiny Tap and Mini Modern Dance, taught by our specialist teachers Mrs Barlow and Mrs Connor.

Music

There are plenty of opportunities for Pre-Prep pupils to cultivate a love of music, from a rich curriculum exploring sounds, rhythm, structure and more, to opportunities to sing together in a variety of Pre-Prep shows. This provides a great foundation for most girls to go on to study at least one musical instrument as they move through the school.
