People don’t take trips, trips take people.
John Steinbeck
We believe that every young person should experience the world beyond the classroom as an essential part of learning and personal development. Our trips are carefully designed to encourage co-operation and team work while also developing independence, awareness and self-confidence.
Each year we organise a huge variety of local, national and international trips, both extra curricular and in line with the syllabus.
At the end of every academic year all year groups in the Senior School are treated to a residential excursion as a post exam treat and a thank you for all their hard efforts. These are always incredibly popular and fun trips for the girls and they also provide an invaluable opportunity to see what their teachers are really like outside of the classroom!
Likewise, girls in the Junior School are sent off on their summer holidays having experienced a number of activities more locally whether it be to the beach or down to Haven Banks on the River Exe for a spot of boating.
Overseas expeditions include a biannual ski trip and a variety of other destinations, most recently to Iceland, Peru, Rome and Germany.
We like to think that when they depart our gates, the Maynard girls have glimpsed enough of the world to either build a thirst to explore even further through a Gap Year or to provide sufficient independence to enter the next stage of their lives!
