Soldering in STEM club

Posted on October 9, 2024

There’s always a fascinating project or experiment bubbling away in the science labs! In our lunchtime STEM club, the fantastic Upper 3 (Year 7) girls have been learning to solder and are now completing their own soldering project to make electronic Christmas tree circuits with flashing LED lights, set to be finished in time for the December end of term!

They’ve had help from wonderful role models Harriet (Lower 5, Year 10), Poppy, Isobel and Yemi (Lower Sixth, Year 12): supporting the younger scientists contributes to the ‘Inspiring the next generation’ segment of the Youth STEMM Awards – in which we’ve been ranked as ‘most engaged school in the UK’ – they’re working to achieve.

A lovely way to learn a new skill and be reminded that the joy of the festive season is on the horizon!
