Year 3 made the most of a beautiful June day on a trip to sunny Dawlish Warren on Wednesday! With it being part of Devon’s signature coastline and home to a variety of rare wildlife, girls had a wonderful time learning all about Dawlish Warren’s fascinating geographic features and ecosystems.
Together with local experts, they saw how the sand spit is being protected from coastal erosion with wooden groynes, sea walls, marram grass and riprap. They then had the chance to build various designs for their own sea defences to try and protect their sandcastles! And of course, the day had to end with classic beach fun including a picnic, kick-rounders and sitting down for some delicious ice cream.
